Sterling Memorial Library

This Gothic building is filled with some unique stained glass designed by G. Owen Bonawit. Most of these windows have leadwork that has been enhanced with overlays and sheet lead additions on both surfaces, and textured solder on the interior looking somewhat like tree bark. Approximately 40 panels were removed for restoration and releading. In order to preserve the original interior lead, the panels were carefully disassembled from the exterior surface leaving the entire interior lead intact. The windows were releaded and attached to the rear of the original interior lead, and new matching overlays were cut from sheet lead for the exterior surface.
